Teacher Appreciation During this time of uncertainty, our teachers and staff are hard at work revising lesson plans to ensure our kids continue to receive a good education for the remainder of the year. They have put in countless hours, practicing flexibility and showing much patience. Since we won’t physically be together during teacher appreciation week, we thought it might be nice to thank them remotely for all their effort by collecting donations to buy gift cards (likely to Amazon) that we can deliver to their email addresses electronically. If you would like to participate, please send money to our Executive VP, Stefanie Galizia, via Paypal at stefanie_galizia@yahoo.com or Venmo @Stefanie-Galizia and add “teacher appreciation†in the notes section. We hope to distribute these in early May so please get your donations in by then. Thanks and hope you all are staying safe... and sane!

Advisory Corner Advisory lesson options will now be on the schoolloop calendar and in the news feed on Fridays.

8th Grade Graduation By now, all parents of 8th grade students should have received an email about the 8th grade festivities that had to be canceled due to our current situation. However, we are still going to celebrate our graduating students! Our graduation committee is hard at work planning fun, "safe" activities for our 8th graders to participate in.
What can 8th grade parents do to help? We are asking for a $20 per student donation to cover the cost of the “graduation activities".
1) If you have already paid for the Boomers/Aloha party, we will be sending you a refund check in May, minus the $20/student.* 2) If you have not paid for Boomers/Aloha party, please send $20/student to Molly O’Balle by May 1st. *If you do not want to donate OR if you want to donate extra for our 8th grade celebration, please email Heather Myers at treasurer@jmpta.org with instructions by May 1st.
If you have any questions about the graduation activities, please contact Cindy Cattell. |
PTA Check Requests Are Due! Please remember to turn in all PTA expense reimbursement requests to the PTA treasurer by May 1st. Check request forms can be found by clicking here. Questions? Contact Heather Myers at Treasurer@jmpta.org. |
Going Once, Going Twice...Going Online During this unprecedented time in our history, our priorities should be the health, safety, and well-being of our community. This was why large gatherings like our MEF Roaring 20's Auction Gala were cancelled. However, MEF's mission still remains: to bridge the gap between state education funding and the real cost of educating our students. Additionally, MEF is still well short of its annual goal - especially considering the significant amount that was expected to be raised during the Auction Gala.
That is why MEF is proceeding with an online auction - an activity well-suited to staying at home! The auction will kick-off on Monday, May 11th at 8AM and close the following Sunday, May 17th at 10PM. All proceeds will benefit the Moraga Education Foundation, which supports every student attending public schools in Moraga, every day. If you are in a position to participate, we hope you will join us in continuing to Make Moraga Brighter! Stay tuned for more details. |
School Supply Kits Available Through May 15th
Once again, we are partnering with local business, Sydney Paige. Through their Buy One | Give One program, JM is able to help other schools in Contra Costa County secure school supplies that their students need, but otherwise cannot afford.
Thanks to the fantastic participation of parents last year, we were able to donate 7,377 free supplies to students across five schools, including our own!
In addition to this exciting impact, we are happy to help JM parents save time and money by purchasing the exact items needed, easily online, and at reduced bulk rates. So click on the link below to purchase your kit(s) today and provide a child in need with brand new school supplies in the Fall!
NEW THIS YEAR--Already have a calculator? Don’t need another combination lock? Just select these items to exclude from your order so that you’re not buying things you don’t need.
