A Donation to MEF is a Donation to Joaquin Moraga Intermediate School
100% of JM students benefit from the Moraga Education Foundation grants to the Moraga School District, so we ask that 100% of families contribute to MEF’s Annual Giving Campaign.
What is the Moraga Education Foundation?
The Moraga Education Foundation (MEF) is the primary fundraising organization for all Moraga public school students TK-12th grade, including JM. MEF’s mission is to raise funds to bridge the gap between state education funding and the real cost of educating our children.
Why Should I Donate?
Public education is free, but excellent public education is not.
Many people think that because of our high property values, we have well-funded schools. But that isn’t the case. California ranks 32nd in per-pupil funding, and Moraga is one of the lowest-funded districts in the state. State funding only covers the basics - your contributions make our schools excellent.
Where Does the Money Go?
Thanks to community support, MEF granted $2,600,000 to the Moraga schools this year. These grants make a significant impact on the quality of education your child receives. At JM, your contributions fund:
- 10 Class Sections of Electives
- Elective Supplies
- Science Supplies
- Art Teachers
- Music Teachers
- Writing Tutor
- Librarian
- Library Materials
- Counselors
- Wellness Center Support
These people and programs would not exist at JM without community support. Learn more about the impact of your MEF contributions at JM.
