13TH ANNUAL JMIS SCIENCE & ENGINEERING FAIR
The 13th Annual JMIS Science & Engineering Fair (JMIS SEF) is scheduled to happen on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 from 7:00-8:30 pm. The JM Science Fair Application Form is available here or HERE and has also been posted by all science teachers on Google Classroom. Typically, around 100 students enter projects in the fair each year, and several hundred students attend the event. Previous Fairs' exhibitors have included: The Mt. Diablo Astronomical Society, Mt. Diablo Bee Club, East Bay MUD, Academy of Digital Sciences, and the Campo Robotics Club.
The JM PTA has generously offered to sponsor our student prizes, and all science teachers at JM are planning to offer extra credit to those who participate in this year's fair. We hope to make it an even bigger, more spectacular event this year, so please start brainstorming some ideas that might turn into your future science project! Here is a website that we recommend that you check out in order to get those brain wheels turning: http://www.
2026 CONTRA COSTA COUNTY SCIENCE & ENGINEERING FAIR
In addition to the JMIS SEF, the 2026 Contra Costa County Science & Engineering Fair (CCCSEF) will be held in March 2026, TBA. We really encourage you to get started on your project now so that you can enter it into both fairs at the same time.
Nearly every one of our students who has entered the CCCSEF in the past has walked away with top honors, and several of our students have won on both the state and national levels. This year, we'd love to see many more students from JMIS at least representing at the county level.
DEADLINES
-

VOLUNTEERS
Lastly, we are still in need of parent volunteers to help out at this year's JMIS SEF. Please let us know if you are interested in volunteering to help with planning the fair: coordinating exhibitors, organizing community involvement, serving snacks or refreshments, etc. The fair is entirely organized and put on by the generous efforts of parent and teacher volunteers. We hope that you will sign up to make this year's fair a fun and educational experience for all our students. Feel free to email me back if you are interested in getting involved!
